Where is the Yucatan Peninsula?
The Yucatan Peninsula is in the south east of Mexico, and it sticks out separating the Caribbean Sea from the

When should you visit the Yucatan Peninsula?
Yucatan has a lot of sunshine, and less than 20% of the days have rain. having said that there are two rainy
seasons the first is between April and July, and the second October to January. This may vary between the north and
south of Yucatan. The Peninsula is also in the hurricane belt and does get hit, so beware during the hurricane
season. The best time to visit is between November and April when it is slightly cooler and less humid.

There is absolutely everything in the Yucatan Peninsula you need for a great vacation. Starting with some of the
best and most beautiful beaches not just in Mexico but also the neighbouring Caribbean.
However that also brings with it drawbacks, and the resorts of Cancun and Tulum have grown beyond recognition, and
staying there is like being in a smaller version of the USA so americanised have they become.
There is a terrific range of accommodation to suit all pockets, although because of the growth of the resort
areas that has brought considerable price inflation with it.
It is mainly concentrated along the Mayan Riviera running between Cancun and Tulum. Names like Playa del Carmen,
Playacar, Akumel are familiar in holiday brochures about Yucatan. Next to all of this is the Great Mayan reef.
Perhaps the biggest reason for visiting Yucatan are the three fantastic Mayan sites at Tulum, Uxmal, and Chichen
Itza.

There are still great places to stay in the Yucatan peninsula that are slightly off the beaten track. You must
research your vacation very thoroughly before booking, and you must include the Mayan sites in your itinerary.
