Top Family Resorts have different meanings for different people. This article is a very
subjective look at what we think are top family resorts. You may not, but you might like what you read and
then go and see for yourself.
More information is available by following the blue links.
The first of our top family resorts is on the island of Phuket in Thailand
The Centara Grand Beach Resort Karon Phuket is a fantastic resort to stay
in as a family. It is the only hotel on the beautiful Karon Beach which stretches for miles that has
direct beach access. It is still a new hotel and is tucked right in at the very northern end of the beach.
Quite large at over 250 rooms it nevertheless is very personal and great for families. One of the
top features is the Lazy River which a warm bath with a current which twists and turns through the hotel. Armed
with an inflatable ring it provides hours of amusement for kids and adults alike, and includes slides and a
cliff jump. The food is outstanding and Karon itself with cheap eats is a cheap taxi ride away. Afford a club
room if you can for free cocktails, lunch, and a lounge where adults can escape their children. For more information about The Centara Grand Beach Resort CLICK HERE
From Thailand to the Algarve in Portugal for the second of our top family resorts
Le Meridien Penina Golf Resort is a great resort for all the family. With
three golf courses and one of the best run kids clubs anywhere called the Penguin Club this is a great place for
the whole family. The rooms whilst not huge are more than adequate with interconnecting rooms readily availabe.
If you can, choose rooms facing the pool, as they are larger. The Penina isn't cheap for out of pocket expenses,
but does have one of the biggest breakfast buffets you will ever see, and nearby you can purchase nibbles and
drinks to keep even the hungriest of children happy. The Penina does very good golf deals and with a huge
swimming pool and massive grounds to entertain children too old for the Penguin Club the Penina has a lot going
for it. Alvor with its numerous relatively inexpensive restaurants is a short taxii ride away, but some of the
evening buffets here are not to be missed. babysitting is readily available. For more information about Le Meridien Penina Golf Resort CLICK HERE
From Portugal to the west coast of Malaysia to Langkawi for the third of our top family resorts
Casa del Mar Langkawi appears at first sight as a boutique hotel and seems
more suited to couples but is rated the top family hotel on Langkawi. To be a family hotel doesn't have to mean
all singing and dancing, kids clubs, entertainments etcetera, it can mean a place where you can feel really
relaxed as a family and the Casa Del Mar achieves this. What really makes it stand out are the rooms, the
location, and the food. When you add to this top quality staff, then that is a potent combination. There are
only 34 high quality rooms and the situation right on the beach which has water sports, even the hotel staff
will play football with the kids. You don't have to go far to be in the town, in fact right outside the front
entrance, so the hotel is well positioned for local shops and restaurants. Feeding a hungry family at hotel
prices can be very expensive so this is a big plus. The biggest plus of all is the staff who never stop smiling
or being helpful.

The fourth of our top family resorts in in the north east corner of Spain
Hotel Aigua Blava Close to Girona in the north east corner of
Spain, the situation of this hotel is spectacular, possibly one of the most spectacular on the Spanish
coastline. It has 18 suites and 70 double rooms, all of them very different. The hotel appears to
tumble down towards the sea, almost like a small village. It would be fair to describe it as a well kept
secret, and is frequented by many UK families who return year after year, and always in the same accommodation
for the same weeks. The Aigua Blava sits between two headlands and has three beaches at its disposal. Whilst
technically part of the Costa Brava it is a wholly different experience from the tourist traps. It is not so
much a hotel as a self contained resort, with staff who are more like family they have worked there for years.
The food in the restaurant is good enough to satisfy the most critical of palates, and from the number of
families with children who return year after year, that says it all insofar as a family type resort is
concerned. For more information about the Hotel Aigua Blava CLICK HERE
For the fifth of our top family resorts we travel to Mexico
Four Seasons Punta Mita Pacific Coast has 173 guest rooms including 32
suites, and has to be one of the easiest places to bring children large or small. For small children they have
everything you can think of that a child might need from a play room with loads of toys books, games. The staff
there and in the rest of the hotel are all very good with children. It almost seems as if they only employ
staff with child friendly skills. One of the best things is the children are not stuck in the playroom, but they
are taken out of there for walks and other activities that the parents can choose for them. The food is top
class for adults and their are children's menus in all the restaurants. If you have only one child the rooms are
way big enough for the extra bed, very comfortable, and the sea views from the large private balcony or patio of
the ocean are lovely. One really good feature is the lazy river that runs through the property, which will
keep children young and old, and also adults entertained all day.For more information about the Four Seasons Punta Mita CLICK HERE
For the sixth of our top family resorts we travel to Antigua, and show that it doesn't need to be five star to
be a top family resort.
Grand Pineapple Beach. If you are looking for an affordable family vacation
hotel in the Caribbean, then you could do a whole lot worse than the Grand Pineapple Beach. This is a three star
hotel situated on a powder white sand beach on the east coast of Antigua. There are 180 guest rooms, and they
are all situated in eleven painted very West Indian wooden one, two, or three storied buildings. Don’t be put
off by the fact it is only three stars because you will eat well here and there are plenty of restaurants and
bars to fill your every need. The resort is all inclusive, and that does mean branded drinks, and there are
plenty of activities to keep the whole family as occupied as they want to be. Most visitors really enjoy the
Grand Pineapple Beach, especially as an affordable family vacation, but a few of the comments would indicate
that the rooms are perhaps showing their age. On the other hand they are cleaned to a high standard every day,
and as the whole theme is one of West Indian style, then perhaps the decor fits the theme. There isn’t much for
under fives to do, and the resort is a good taxi ride away from night life and restaurants, however if you love
beaches, want to stay in the one place, then the Grand Pineapple Beach will give you the ideal family vacation
in a good Antigua all inclusive resort. For more information about the Grand Pineapple Beach CLICK HERE
