Hidden away the Grand Hotel Son Net is remarkably only 15 minutes from Palma, but it seems a million miles from all that hustle and bustle.

It is a converted and renovated 18th century villa, still retaining many original features, it is quite enchanting.

It attracts people looking for not only tranquillity, but a vacation away from the stresses and strains of 21st century living. People who enjoy beautiful gardens, superb food, and top class unobtrusive service, but it comes at a price!!

Gran Hotel Son Net Mallorca

The Hotel Son Net certainly lived up to its reputation of being one of the top ten hotels in the world.

When a hotel is described as being ‘tucked away’ don’t be surprised to find that what that really means is you are going to need a car. That is really the only drawback whilst at the same time a massive advantage of this hotel, is the fact that it is quite isolated so you end up being cocooned in its’ warmth and charm, quite simply because it makes you feel miles away from reality.

The Hotel Son Net has beautiful rooms, but go for the best room you can afford, because the standard style rooms are a bit small. There are lovely marble bathrooms, and beautiful mountain scenery.

The food in the restaurant was quite superb, some of the best food I have ever eaten in an hotel, and the wines were really very good, and well chosen by the sommelier. However I would say that the service was a little slow at times but that has been a not uncommon experience in Spain and Majorca previously.

I wouldn’t want you to infer from my comment about the slowness of the service as an implied criticism of the staff of the hotel, because during our stay the personal attention we received made us feel like royalty. It seemed by the time we had been there for a few days they knew all our likes and dislikes.

The general age of the clientele was quite old, making us feel almost young again. Overall a very nice time was had, whilst staying at the Son Net, but probably not for a young family with children, and not a place to be when the weather is cool, due to the lack of things to do.
