The Pine Cay Meridian Club Resort Turks and Caicos is a quite unique place to stay. It is a small and very elegant resort on a private island about a fifteen minute flight from Providenciales in an air taxi. You can fly into  Providenciales from Europe which is what we did, but if you arrive after dusk, you’ll have to wait until morning for a connection.

The resort which doesn’t take children under the age of twelve has only twelve rooms although you can rent beach cottages a short distance away

The twelve rooms are all very spacious and designed as a suite with separate bedroom and lounge area, with screened in porch like areas outside with table and chairs.

You should note there are no room phones or televisions, although there is electricity, and whilst the rooms are simply furnished they are very comfortable.

We had a king bed, although I believe twin beds are in some of the rooms, and there is a large bathroom area, and a dressing room, all well equipped as you would expect, although there is no air-conditioning. The rooms are kept cool by large ceiling fans, and a through breeze.

You can do as little or as much as you wish, the beach is almost always deserted, and you can use golf carts or bicycles for exploring or you can sail, there are delightfully no cars.

The food is all included, but not alcohol, and breakfast and lunch are buffet style around the pool. The dining room is quite elegant, but not formal. Please note if you don’t like buffet lunches, just tell the chef what you want instead. Be warned meal times are quite restricted, with breakfast 8-9, lunch 1-2, and you need to be in the dining room at around 7.30 for dinner.

The food is superb, with the seafood especially recommended.

This is a very elegant place, although you won’t need shoes, even at dinner. The service is impeccable.
