There is accommodation for twenty guests in 8 rooms and 2 suites, none of which can have extra beds, which means no children.

The rooms all have a King size bed, ensuite facilities, and all the usual things like air conditioning, mini bar, free broadband connection, although it is difficult to understand why people need this on vacation. Finally Cable TV with a DVD player adds up to top notch accommodation.

A word of advice here. There are Garden Rooms on the ground floor, and the Islands View Rooms are on the second and third floor, with the Ocean View Rooms having the largest verandas, where there are day beds and sun loungers . Be aware that the verandas are accessible to other guests, so there is no privacy here, as people can walk by..

It looks like an old fashioned wooden colonial building, found high up on the coastline, with verandas all the way round. Seeing it for the first time you would imagine it was old, but in fact it was built as recently as 2004.

What isn't so well known is that a lunch menu is posted, which can be taken between noon and 2 o'clock. You can choose to eat either indoors in a dining room that would do an English manor house justice, or on the ocean side in the porch. 

Insofar as the evening is concerned, everyone congregates in the lounge where a bar is set up, and if you want to eat dinner then all you have to do is ask.

Activities at ASTA

If you want to go diving at Stuarts Cove then this is the best possible base, as it is so close.

It would be fair to say that ASTA[A Stone's Throw Away] is the place to relax with a good book from their library. For the slightly more energetic there is a very nice swimming cove about 15 minutes walk away. Not to forget the stupendous food, which is why ASTA has the huge reputation as a gourmet bed and breakfast, and the number of visitors for dinner bears witness to this.

Conclusions

A Stone's Throw Away is definitely an escape, and a romantic escape at that. The food and the accommodation are of the topmost quality, but with so much of the Bahamas on your doorstep, it is probably best for a romantic weekend break, or a couple of nights unwinding at the start of your Bahamas vacation.
