Indian Ocean Beach Club Mombasa Kenya|White Sand Beach|Service With a
Smile
_____________________________________________________________
Where is The Indian Ocean Beach Club
You will find it on a typical Indian Ocean beautiful white powder sand beach, called Diani Beach south of
Mombasa in Kenya.
It sits under coconut palms, and the classical Baobab trees, and just looks like paradise revisited.
The Indian Ocean Beach Club sits on the site of a 16th century mosque and has huge roots in history, covering
more than 25 acres.
What is The Indian Ocean Beach Club like?
Small would be the first word that comes to mind. Small works well, because this enables the service that this
hotel has become famous for.
Whitewashed walls and thatched cottages are the first picture that you will have, so it fits exactly into what you
imagine an Indian Ocean holiday would be like.
The Indian Ocean Beach Club is quite unlike many modern hotels, full of noise and bustle, but
soulless. This lovely place has been built specifically to attract honeymooners, lovers, and romantics of all
ages who are looking for the kind of service and accommodation that used to exist, but has sadly gone.
The hotel is also very nicely furnished with antiques, has three plunge pools and a freeform swimming
pool.
Finally it is right next door to a marine park, and if you like snorkelling then the offshore coral reef is a huge
opportunity for you.
Staff at The Indian Ocean Beach Club Kenya
The Indian Ocean Beach Club supplies top class service very well indeed, and as an example iced
towels and fruit brought to your sun lounger.
Every sun bed on the beach has a flag to raise for service, and it also arrives quickly, always a good
sign.
The staff are well trained, friendly, and work extremely hard to keep up the old fashioned standards that
exist here. The hotel is obviously well managed because the standard and quality of service never drops for an
instant.
The key with the staff at the Indian ocean Beach Club Diani Beach is that nothing is too much trouble. Service
with a smile every day and every time.
Accommodation at The Indian Ocean Beach Club
Your room will either be in a thatched cottage or double storey whitewashed buildings. There really is nothing
higher than a palm tree, and everything fits beautifully into the local environment.
There are 100 rooms, of which around 35 are ocean front, which are well worth paying the extra for. They are
literally within metres of the beach with amazing views, to waken to the sound of the sea is just magical.
You will find all the usual furnishings and equipment in the immaculately maintained rooms. Mosquito nets are of
course necessary, so don't forget to sort out your malaria protection before arriving in Kenya.

Food at The Indian Ocean Beach Club Mombasa
The Beach Club has four restaurants, the main restaurant being Spices which serves breakfast and an eight course
table d'hote dinner.
The Bahari Cove is an open air restaurant by the beach which serves Swahili style seafood, and the poolside Ocean
Terrace serves snacks all day.
The Jungle Village is where under the clear skies lit by lanterns the Club hosts its themed buffet evenings. The
atmosphere created is that of an African village complete with bonfire and entertainment.
The food is delicious, the themed buffet nights particularly good, and the afternoon tea is something to look
forward to every day.
Whilst the Indian Ocean Beach Club may not always merit five star by European standards, everything food wise
from eggs cooked to your taste at breakfast, to fresh crepes for afternoon tea, to dinner in the Spices restaurant
or buffets in the grounds, is definitely five star by anyone's standards.
Activities at The Indian Ocean Beach Club Mombasa Kenya
Non motorised water sports such as catamarans, windsurfing, including two lessons are available. There is a
tennis court, and spa services. Scuba diving and deep sea fishing can be arranged, but really the Beach Club is a
place to relax. For the energetic there is organised water polo and beach volleyball.
Conclusions.
The Indian Ocean Beach Club is a romantic spot ideal for honeymooners, and there are always some staying
normally at the end of a safari. This is probably the ideal thing to do.
You may be put off by hawkers on the beach, but all that is necessary is to be firm and say no thank you. Don't get
irritated hawkers are a way of life here, and they are after all only trying to scrape by. Courtesy costs nothing,
and you will find after a day or two of polite refusals you won't be bothered.
It is a delightful place, but don't expect London or European five star, but the superb service with a smile
more than makes up.
All in all highly recommended.
